Hamming, "Mathematics"

As you live your life, your attention is generally on the foreground things, and the background is usually taken for granted. 

We take for granted, most of the time, air, water, and many other things such as language and Mathematics. When you have worked in an organization for a long time its structure, its methods, and its "ethos" if you wish, are usually taken for granted.

The Art of Doing Science and Engineering: Learning to Learn" was the capstone course by Dr. Richard W. Hamming (1915-1998) for graduate students at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey California.
